We are now part of the Leicestershire and Rutland Neighbourhood Watch Association. This organisation is dedicated to the cause of Neighbourhood Watch schemes within these counties. You can visit them at www.leicestershirenhw.com or call them at 0116 248 3871. Recently at the BHRA meeting, the area's Police Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator advised members that, although the estate is now under the Neighbourhood Watch scheme, it is not until each household that is interested in the scheme signs up by filling in the VC Relay Form that they become a full member. The benefits of full membership are two fold. One, it may allow the household certain discount from the insurance companies on their home insurance policy (the insurance companies check for full membership with the local police) and second, the household is informed of all the development in the area especially issues associated with crime and Neighbourhood Watch. This keeps members informed and involved. However, as the scheme is voluntary in nature and to keep the scheme going, members are requested to donate whatever is convenient to them towards the running cost of the scheme. The estate’s Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator is Chris Morgan. To join the scheme, please request Chris Morgan for a new VC Relay Form 2.0 or meet him in person at next BHRA meeting. Also see: http://www.mynhw.co.uk/ DON'T BE A SUCKER" did you know that if you don't wipe of the sucker marks from your car windscreens before leaving the car criminals will assume that you have sat-nav and could potentiatly break into your car many people just leave them in the glove box also take your stereo fascia with you leaving them in your glove box is like leaving your front door keys under the mat!! Also there has been an increase in antisocial / illegal parking we should not have to tolerate this for all those concerned by this please in the first instance contact Leicester City's Parking Team on 0116 2232148, you may also wish to contact where the vehicle in question is causing a dangerous obstruction to the police on 0116 2222222 NHW Email: enquiries@leicestershirenhw.com
Leicestershire Constabulary Dear Resident RE: METAL THEFTS You will probably have heard by now that churches, schools, businesses and homes throughout the county are being plagued by thieves who are stripping away metal of all varieties to sell for cash. Currently the export market value of lead and other metals is encouraging both petty and organised criminals to take advantage and steal anything and everything from manhole covers and cabling to church roofs and pipes and flashing. As a member of our community you will understand the impact of this criminal activity on local buildings and the people who own and use them. Untold damage is being caused, as well as a lot of worry and concern. This is a national problem. Leicestershire Constabulary are doing a great deal of work and are making a number of arrests, as well as raising public awareness of the problem. We are cooperating with the Police to take steps to protect our church property, but we need your help. Please keep an eye out for any suspicious activity, people or vehicles. Take a note of descriptions and registration numbers and report anything suspicious to the Police immediately. The number to ring is 0116 2222222, or 999 if a crime is in progress. So, if you are out and about, on foot or in the car, make a point of checking out the church and other likely targets. If you get up in the night look out of the window to see if anything is going on, and if anything strikes you as being not quite right, phone the Police. When you see members of the local neighbourhood team have a chat with them to see if there is anything more you can do, and if you've got information which might help, please make sure you pass it on. If you want to find out more about what is being done, log on to the Police website at www.leics.police.uk. Hopefully, by working together as a community, we will be able to put a stop to this damaging trend. Thank you for your support.
