Bradgate Heights Residents Association Constitution

(3rd Revision Date - 13th April 2010) 

NAME

The name of the organisation shall be Bradgate Heights Residents Association (BHRA).

AIMS  

  1. To promote the interests of the residents of Bradgate Heights and the Grange.
  2. To promote social activities for all members of the Association. 
  3. To discuss and address issues highlighted by the residents before the Association 
  4. To work with other agencies

MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be open to all residents of Bradgate Heights, regardless of nationality, political affiliation, race, gender or religious belief or background. 

MEMBERSHIP FEE/SUBSCRIPTION  

  • Membership is free of charge. 
  • The Association may, however, engage in the collection of funds from time to time to serve the interest of the residents, where necessary. These funds will be managed by the appointed treasurer and will be audited by two independent auditors, nominated for such purposes by the committee. 

THE COMMITTEE 

  • A committee shall be elected to carry out the business of the Association. 
  • The committee shall be made up of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator. The Association may also wish to appoint 5 general members to serve in various roles, if required. 
  • The committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Vacancies arising through the year can be filled by elections at General Meetings. 
  • Officers shall carry out the duties given to them at General Meetings.
  • Minutes of committee meetings shall be available to all members via emails or on the website 
  • The committee can introduce or appoint new members as required.
  • The committee shall meet once every two months and each committee member shall attend no less than 3 times per year. 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING  

  • There shall be an Annual General Meeting held every year in the month of May at which the committee will report on its work, present a statement of accounts and stand down to seek re-election. 
  • The AGM shall elect a new committee, vote on recommendations and any amendments to the constitution. 
  • Notification of the AGM will be publicised via emails or on the website no less than 14 days before the AGM.  

OTHER GENERAL MEETINGS  

  • There will be a General Meeting open to all members every two months.    
  • Notification will be publicised via emails or on the website no less than 5 days before a meeting.  

QUORUM  

No decision shall be made at a General Meeting or Annual General Meeting if less than 5 members are present. No committee meeting shall take place if less than 3 members of the committee are present.

CHANGES TO THE CONSTITUTION

  • The Association can amend its constitution at the Annual General Meeting or a special meeting.  
  • Changes must be agreed by two thirds of the members present at the meeting. 

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY:

  • The Association must actively seek to represent the needs and aspirations of all residents in the area represented. It must up-hold equal opportunities and work for good relations among all members of the community.  
  • The Association must not discriminate on the grounds of nationality, political opinion, ethnic and cultural background, religious opinion, sex, sexuality or disability.  

DISSOLUTION 

  • The Association may only be dissolved at a Special General Meeting called for that purpose and must be advertised via emails or on the website 14 days before the meeting.  
  • A proposal to dissolve the Association shall take effect only if agreed by two thirds of the members present at the meeting.  
  • Funds and possessions will be disposed of according to the wishes of the dissolution meeting.
