Bradgate Heights Residents Meeting

3rd June 2010, 7.30 pm Heathley Park Public House

Attending: 8 residents

Meeting commenced: 7.35pm

Council Updates

Sarah advised that the metal fence had now been replaced on Marion Close by the hospital maintenance team.

Hemant advised that he is still waiting for a few other locations of the broken sewer covers and then David Wilson homes will be coming to replace these. Manish advised there is at least one cover on Strathern road which has been broken and had left a hole in the pavement as the cover has collapsed. The location of this cover is on Strathern road directly opposite the junction of Broombriggs road.

Hemant had been in contact with Greenbelt and they have advised that the grass is being cut once a month on the areas that they own until September.

There have been no updates with regards to the parking restrictions/traffic regulations on Lady Hay road/Hallgate Drive/Strathern road.

No update on the land registry search from the council about the ownership of the buildings at the end of Lady Hay Road/Hallgate Drive. Hemant to chase Steve Letten.

Neighbourhood Watch

Chris advised he has still not had any crime stats from the police.

Solitaire

Manish advised that there was a new area manager looking after the apartments for Solitaire and she seems to be quite helpful compared to the past area manager. She has already acted on the Sky dishes on the apartments and every person once their current contract has expired with Sky has to have their dishes taken down. Residents have been advised they cannot use the visitor’s spaces if they have two cars per flat. They have to make necessary arrangements to park elsewhere on the estate. She has also acted on some noise problems and the For Sale/To Let signs have also got to be removed.

Manish advised that she has advised that there is no money in the current budget to erect bike sheds. The residents association may be able to explore other ways to get funding.

AOB

Hemant advised the new Lord Mayor, Colin Hall had been in touch about the residents association organising another ‘Bradgate Heights in Bloom’. This will now be judged on 31st July 2010 so get your front gardens looking good.

Liz Kendall, the Leicester West MP had been in contact with Hemant to thank the resident association for their support throughout the election campaign and to advise that she is looking forward to working with the local community.

Bradgate Heights is now on Twitter so residents can keep up to date with any developments on the estate.

Pam advised that the dog bins had been removed but there is an issue on Whittington road near to the park as people with dogs are using the normal bin to get rid of dog waste. The magpies are now pulling the bags out of this bin and leaving the waste on the pavement. Pam is going to speak to the Environmental heath department at the council about this.

A resident has brought to our attention a clinical waste bag that is being left on the public pavement outside 34 Lady Hay road every Monday. They are concerned about the contents of this bag and the consequences should someone get in the bag.  Pam will speak to environmental health about this.

We are going to organise a gathering in the Lady Hay Road/Whittington Road green area for Sunday 15th August. More details to follow.

Next meeting – Thursday 5th August.

8.50 pm – Meeting closed
